Crunk Instrumentals - Getting Crunked with Crunk Beats

Crunk beats are fusions of urban music patterned with Electronica elements. Based from the word �Cronic Drunk�, the genre was originated in Memphis, Tennessee in 1993 and gained its popularity in the contemporary HipHop and RnB genre in 2004. Crunk instrumentals usually make use of heavy bassline vocal background and drum machine systems to create a party anthem. The genre is said to distinguish the �Southern Hip-Hop� from the other sub-genres of urban music. According to the Rolling Stone magazine, the word �Crunk� is defined as the feeling of getting pumped or excited. Lil Jon released a single entitled �Who U Wit?� in 1996 to explain the meaning of the word to massive listeners.

The crunk instrumentals consist of heavy bass music materials and synthesized 808 drums. The drum machines commonly used in creating crunk beats includes the Roland TR-909 and TR-808 model. The machines are accompanied by repetitive simple melodies and bass stabs. The use of Reggaeton is patterned with the music�s tempo.

The fa�ade for the popularity of the Crunk genre lies on the fact that it focuses more on the music and not on the lyrics. Rappers belonging to the genre aggressively shout the lyrics to convey the message of the song and of the beat as well. In 2004, three singles were released to bring emphasis on the development of the Crunk phenomenon in the US. The singles were Lil Jon�s �Get Crunk with You�, The Ying Yang Twin�s �Get Low� and Usher�s �Yeah!� remix.
